THE GOVERNMENT OF FREE LEBANON Following the recent Arab conference in Beirut, Egypt and Saudi Arabia emphasized to the Lebanese State that Hizbollah has fulfilled its obligation by liberating southern Lebanon from Israeli occupation, therefore it is time to end Hizbollah's military activities in Lebanon and that Hezbollah will assume its normative, social role. Iran reacted with the assassination of Hobeika, using Hezbollah as a proxy executioner, to send a clear message to all the Arab participants of the conference and in particular to Lebanon and Syria that the struggle against Israel shall continue. Despite what the West says about Lebanon being a democracy, or the good intentions of Syria and Lebanon in fighting terrorism, many officers in the Lebanese Army are subordinate to Syrian and Iranian operatives entrenched in senior positions and take their orders from them. They applied pressure to help, support, protect, and coordinate strategic issues related to the terrorist organization Hezbollah and the interests of Iran in Lebanon that involves attacking Israel and the US presence in the region. Due to intense American political pressure on the Lebanese Government, Lebanese Intelligence forces in coordination with Syrian Intelligence forces created a confrontation in Beirut a few days ago that resulted in many wounded. The fighting was between supporters of the Amal militia and Hizbollah as to how to sell an argument of delay and obfuscation to the Americans and have them believe that Syria is going to censor Hezbollah, with the help of the Lahoud regime. This issue of Syria and Lebanon cooperating with the United States in the war against terror is only for cosmetic political reasons and without substance. Actually, quite the opposite is true: Intelligence sources from Beirut revealed to the Government of Free Lebanon that Hezbollah in coordination with Christian Brigadier General Raymond Azar and Colonel Maher Toufaily are part of the group behind many of the numerous bombings that occurred in the former Security Zone, including the bombing of Joseph Rizk AKA "Allouch," former commander of Jezzine area for the SLA, that left him half paralyzed The same army group with Hezbollah were also responsible for the assassination of Akl Hashem the No 2 man of the SLA who was killed by the same style of bomb that killed Elias Hobeika in Hazmieh, fiefdom of Lebanese intelligence in Beirut. Because of Azar's background, he is from the village of Azour in south Lebanon, in the Jezzine district, he was successfully used by Syria and Hezbollah against the Christians in the former security zone. Indeed, he was the main officer that Syria relied on to execute most of the deadly, sophisticated operations, car bombs, and explosives, against the South Lebanon Army and the Israeli Forces. Azar, who has a comprehensive background in the Lebanese Army Intelligence Directorate, was in charge of the Beirut Intelligence section during the time President Elias Hrawi held office. His office was located behind the Military Tribunal, Rue du Musee, and the Beirut Section, belonged in the Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense in Yarzeh that was directly linked at one time to the Intelligence Command under the supervision of Brigadier General Michel Rahbani. Lebanese military intelligence, in coordination with Iranian-Syrian oversight, is responsible for and masterminded many "special operations" in southern Lebanon using Hezbollah as a proxy army to implement a war against Israel. Because of Azar's successful performance in helping Syria and Iran in a series of "assassinations" orchestrated by Hezbollah in the southern Security Zone, helping the Party of God in its fight with the Israeli Army, the Syrian command rewarded Colonel Azar by placing him in charge of all intelligence in the Lebanese Army. They were not allowed to be independent and they were all put under the supervision of Col. Jamil Assayed, a pro-Hezbollah, a trusted pro-Syrian officer that was given the General Security Agency - in charge of all foreign intelligence. This agency is responsible for issuing all passports from Lebanon, a very sensitive post that can cover Hezbollah operatives overseas such as placing false names on passports. The previous officer in charge Brigadier General Rahbani was not trusted by Syria, therefore he was removed from the position as he was suspected of loyalty to a free Lebanon. As a reward for his new position, Col. Azar was upgraded to Brigadier General and became an obsequious sycophant to the Syrian command and is well known for constantly abusing the human rights of the indigenous Christian population, ignoring all terror groups and their activities. To the contrary, he served as a base support to cover and assist Hezbollah's terror structure in Lebanon, in coordination with General Ghazi Kanaan, Syria's proxy ruler of Lebanon, and Col. Rustom Ghazali, in charge of Syrian Intelligence in Beirut and who is also in close contact with the Iranian terror connection in Beirut. Azar will do anything to secure his position that resulted from a Syrian request from the current puppet President Emile Lahoud. Among those joining Azar in the betrayal of Lebanon was Elias Hobeika. He committed many crimes at the orders of the Syrian command as delineated in the book "From Israel to Damascus." Hobeika eventually became a dangerous liability for Syria; Syria and Iran had no further use for him and decided to remove Hobeika in traditional Shiaa fashion: a car bomb. Iran had evidence that Hobeika was responsible for the murders of its diplomats in Beirut during the Lebanese war, in addition to murdering many Shiaa victims. For Syria, the evidence of Hobeika's responsibility for the assassination of President Bashir Gemayel vanished, and Hobeika bribed the main Judge Said Mirza who was investigating the murder. He also bribed District Attorney Mounif Oueidat, the highest Judicial Authority in Lebanon, in order to indict, blame and prosecute Samir Geagea for the crime of killing Dany Chamoun. Mirza, upon instruction from the Syrians, assisted in destroying and delaying the evidence of Hobeika's responsibility for the assassination of President Bashir Gemayel. Military Prosecutor Assaad Germanos was responsible for the evidence vanishing of the killings at Sabra and Shatilla and many other and sensitive and embarrassing issues. Syria, in conjunction with Iran and Lebanese Intelligence with the assistance of their Hezbollah proxy, waited for the adequate moment to strike an embarrassing asset - Hobeika - which recently happened. Syria needed a scapegoat and manufactured one that led to Israel as responsible for Hobeika's assassination. After the fall of southern Lebanon to Hezbollah, the Syrians and their proxies in coordination with Lebanese Intelligence gathered detailed data on all pro-Israeli elements in southern Lebanon in order to place them under surveillance. Most of the surveillance focused on Guardians of the Cedars members and the former SLA patriots were frequently harassed by bombing their properties and cars and humiliated by Hezbollah and Lebanese Intelligence. These steps did not end as Lebanese Intelligence in coordination with Hezbollah found their scapegoat. He was the owner of the blue Mercedes in Ein el Mir, a poor Christian who could be used to pave the way to Jerusalem. This direction involved the Guardian of the Cedars Party who were fighting against the Syrian occupation so that the Lebanese Government could accuse the Mossad, and P.M. Sharon. The town of Ein el Mir has a strong Guardian of the Cedar presence in the Lebanese mountains, making them particularly vulnerable. The four arrested were sympathizers of the Guardian of the Cedar party and knew nothing of the crime. All the owner of the blue Mercedes knew was that he sold his Mercedes to a John Doe in Lebanon. Who is John Doe? The Lebanese police assumes him to be an Israeli "secret spy" that purchased the blue car using a fake identity. The Lebanese Government holds accountable the owner of the blue Mercedes who sold his car to this "unknown"John Doe." John Doe is no one but the same person sent by Lebanese Intelligence in coordination with Hezbollah to buy the car from this Guardians of the Cedar sympathizers in Ein el Mir with a fake identity, later on filling it with explosives without any concern nor fear of Lebanese law as they were protected by the Syrians and Hezbollah as they detonated the car killing Hobeika. Now Lebanese intelligence is searching for the same "John Doe" they sent to buy the blue car. The newspaper Teshrine in Damascus, acting in full coordination with the puppet government in Beirut, is camouflaging the crime and attempting to accuse and embarrass Israel politically. The Iranian-Syrian-Lebanese axis is trying to relieve the pressure on Arafat by embarrassing Sharon and implicating him in this murder. Along with the help of their Belgium friends, they planned on an embarrassing incident to pressure Israel. This incident was "the Hobeika" murder as Hobeika was expendable and his usefulness to Damascus had come to an end. From the bombing of the church in Zouk, to the murder of Chamoun, to a long list of crimes that struck Lebanon, Syria quietly used the vulnerable Lebanese citizen as a scapegoat. A bleeding Lebanon asks the world: "when is this state supported terrorism going to end?" Lebanon has been the victim of Syrian terrorism and genocide for almost two decades. Syria and Iran fueled , nurtured, and protected most terrorist organizations in Lebanon along with the strange silence of the free world and the United States. The events of September 11th proves that Lebanon can no more be left in the unfriendly hands of terror as that will breed similar consequences in the future. The security of the United States should be involved with the security of every nation and regime in the Middle East. To win the battle against terrorism, the United States must help Lebanon rid itself of Syrian domination, Iranian terror, and assist Lebanon in regaining its stature as an independent nation friendly to the West. We urge Prime Minister Sharon to bring forward the issue of terrorism in Lebanon in his upcoming meeting with President Bush. Bringing a solution for this country that can no longer sustain the terror of Hezbollah is a must to win the war against terrorism. The whole world is living in agony and constant fear because of these terror groups. The Lebanese and Syrian terror states disguise the terror activities of these groups, present Hizbollah as a charitable and sociable organization acting as a legitimate resistance group and not as a terror group to be held accountable for promoting terrorism. These terror networks inflaming the Middle East with daily terror strikes should be dismantled and neutralized before they complete what Bin Laden started in destroying the Free World. The time has come to strike terrorism wherever it stands and their sponsoring supporting states and regimes. The Government of Free Lebanon offers today all its available infrastructure to help win this war against terrorism and to help rebuild a new, pacified Lebanon that will serve the best interests of peace in the Middle East . |
