Five Israeli spies flee Lebanon

A report published by a Lebanese newspaper hints that five people suspected of working for Israel's notorious spy agency, Mossad, have fled the country.
The report published on
Thursday by Ad-Diyar daily suggested that a former senior officer in the Lebanese army is thought to have escaped to Germany by commercial plane.
Security forces are searching for the other four who they believe have also left the country.
The new development comes as the Lebanese government plans to file an official complaint against Israel with the United
Nations Security Council.
Dozens of people have been arrested since last year on suspicion of collaborating with Mossad, including members of Lebanon 's security forces and telecommunications personnel.

Wednesday, a military court in Lebanon sentenced Hassan Ahmed al-Hussein, a former school principal, to death on the charges of providing Israel with sensitive information in 2008 about the leadership of Hezbollah and the
locations of sites used by the resistance movement.
Last week, Hezbollah Secretary General Seyyed Hassan Nasrallah called on the Lebanese judiciary system to take the issue of Israeli spies more seriously, arguing that
they have caused extensive damage to Lebanon .
Nasrallah linked the arrest of the Israeli spies who worked for Alfa mobile phone company to the international probe launched into the assassination of former Lebanese Prime
Minister Rafiq Hariri.
Nasrallah said given the infiltration, use of any phone data by the UN-backed Special Tribunal for Lebanon investigating the assassination could turn the probe into ""an Israeli
project.""
The tribunal was set up by the UN and the Lebanese government in May 2007 to investigate the 2005 killing
