To: Leb. Foundation for Peace

Shalom,

I receive your messages regularly, and I've read the last ones with much sadness.

I live in Israel and am ashamed of the latest developments, particularly of the dastardly actions of our government.

Unfortunately, the government acts in a cowardly fashion, both towards you and towards a large part of our citizens, as we've had proof once again these last days after the Katyusha attacks on the north of the country or when [the government] proves prepared to chase large populations from their homes for the sake of some pseudo-peace.

True, this government having been elected democratically, it reflects 'a priori' the positions of the majority of the citizens, but we mustn't forget that since this country's media are being dominated largely by the political currents of the left and the extreme left, they have long been conducting a brain washing which has sown doubts in numerous citizens, doubts but not clear-cut and fully conscientious positions. Furthermore, 20% of our citizens/electors from the Arab sector automatically condone such causes as the flight from the Lebanon and other causes of this type...

Please know that despite all that, a very large part of our population is angry at what is being done in this domain.

As a religious Jew, I think that the abandonment of our friends in Southern Lebanon is not only a dastardly act but predominantly IMMORAL !

I know that all these words don't help you very concretely.

I, regretfully, have very little possibility to act in an efficacious way, the maximum I can do is try to convince as many people as possible in my circle, something I'm attempting to do as best I can.

Tomorrow night, as we celebrate our Independence, I'll keep (like many more among us)  a particular place in my heart for you, who've been waiting for so long for the veritable independence that we wish you wholeheartedly!

From the history of our people we learn that, above all else, one must keep one's hope and faith!

All of us who live in Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria, the Gaza Strip, the Golan Heights and the north of the country are undergoing a difficult period but we are strengthened by our faith and we are convinced that, in the long run, justice will win, just as - following almost 2000 years of exile - we have ended by recovering our land !

Amicably and sincerely with you,

Gabriel

I want to tell you something about why we the Guardians of the Cedars are still since 13 april 1975 defending one cause: The Lebanese Cause.
Take myself: before 13 april 1975, I was a person who was defending the arabity of Lebanon, the palestinian cause, the arab causes. And even, once a time, I told a friend that Syria and Lebanon should be unified in one country. My argument was Lebanon  is too small alone, so why not join Syria.
I was not a member of any  political party, however, I was thinking as a Lebanese who thought that he has everything around him, good life, security, etc...
When the war has been  declared against Lebanon in 1975, the purpose was to create a palestinian-muslim state over Lebanon. And all the Arab countries and some muslim countries sent fighters to conquest Lebanon in the name of the arab unity.
Imagine how a  person like me can feel : me, a lebanese who is defending the arabity of  Lebanon, the palestinian cause and the arab causes, had between three choices :
1. Get killed.
2. Leave Lebanon.
3. Accept to be a second category  person living in his own country under the rule of the Palestinians.
My reaction was normal and prompt : These Arabs and Palestinians do not merit any respect or considerations because they do not respect the others.
I am by nature a laic person, although I respect my religion and other religions.  However, I do not accept that because of my religion, the arabs have the right to kill me and to kill all who are maronites or christians in general.
Therefore, it was my duty to fight for my country Lebanon.
At this moment, I understood that during my first 18 years, I was blind because I did never understand the real meaning of a country and a nation.
At this  moment, I understood the meaning of having a country like Lebanon.
At this  moment, not only I have joined the Gardians of the Cedars to defend my country, but also I began to read books and books on the history of Lebanon and the arab countries.
Yes, I discovered at this moment, that Lebanon has its own history, a history of peace, of science, of culture.
Yes, I discovered at this moment, that the Arabs are just barbarians who in the name of their religion have decided to make massacres in the Middle-East. Please, do not compare this to the inquisition by the church, because the Christ did never ask  to impose christianity by force.
I discovered at this moment, that me Lebanese has nothing to share with these barbarians, the arabs, who are surrounding us.
Yes, I am proud to belong to a nation, the Lebanese Nation,  who has discoverd the alphabet.
Yes, I am proud to belong to a nation who is the mother of the civilization.
Yes, I am proud to be a Lebanese, and only a Lebanese. And I do not need any other attribute.
Lebanon has a meaning in himself and he is a finality.
I choose the Guardians of the Cedars because the party believes in the laicity of Lebanon. A real one, that takes into consideration the respect of all the religious communities of  Lebanon.
However, since Lebanon exists before all the religious communities,  if we want to preserve a real country, all the religions should accept the idea  that Lebanon is a finality in itself.
In 1975, I understood that I was looking elsewhere for a truth that I have already within my hands.
This is  why, personnally and the Gardians of the Cedars in general, we continue to fight  until Lebanon gets its freedom.
The Gardians of the Cedars did never say that  Lebanon should disappear and be a part of IsraĆ«l, Syria, or any other country.
However, the enemies of Lebanon ask that Syrian troops should stay in Lebanon and Lebanon be annexed by Syria.
The name of our party shakes these pro-syrians and hypocrites of Beirut, but give confidence to the Lebanese who are seeking for their freedom.
When I was invited to a european television once, the responsibles wanted to find a second person for a debate. They spend more than two weeks looking for somebody, because all the people they  called gave the same answer : "We refuse to enter in a debate with the Gardians of the Cedars and especially not "Newton"".
Do you know why ? Because they know we still have the courage to say the truth.
The truth is : Syria wants to annex Lebanon. Syria and the Palestinians have destroyed Lebanon. Syria and  the Palestinians are responsible for the death of 300000 Lebanese. Therefore, Assad, Arafat and their followers have to pay.
We are not interested by any elections or thinking of changing the constitution or any reform now, because our soil is spoiled and occupied.
Our only preoccupation for the moment is the Liberation of Lebanon.
Only cowered defend Syria.
Only stupid think  that by saying lies they are going to get something.
Only blinds do not see that Syria want to annex Lebanon.
Our ideology cannot disappear since it speaks about a natural reality and a truth called  Lebanon.
